Beginning in the month of August, most applicants of the temporal social relief of distress (srd) grant were optimistic and on alert to receive their June and July grant and even August.
Most of the applicants were disappointed to see their applications declined with reasons that could not comprehend. One of the reasons that stood tall among the list is ‘irp5 registered’. What a heck is this? In fact, almost all of them, that was first time hearing about this term ‘irp5’.I
Most of these applicants were thrown aboard don’t know what to do or where to seek further clarification on this.
As highly disappointed as expected, they took to social media to express their displeasure on what some called ‘unfair treatment’.
Upon further online checks, it was revealed that the irp5 is an employee tax certificate. A form or certificate that shows an employee’s tax returns filled out by the employer.
Be reminded that when sassa was asked to administer this srd R350 grant, in order to make sure only qualified applicants are paid, they have to do vigorous and exhaustive verification on all applicants.
To do this they match each of the applicant’s submitted details with Lome state department to make sure indeed they are not receiving any financial benefits from government or salaries.
It was out this, the irp5 registered issue came up.
A member of the certain Facebook group shared what she has been able to find out after checks upon checks.
Below is her post which she share:
“Guys I managed to talked to SARS offices today as I have been told by Department of Labour that should contact them .. the Solution they said we must go to the previous employer and request that certificate called irp5 and submit it to SARS ,they will contact SASA and confirm we are not working.
Everyone has problem with declined applications bcs of that irpf5 must fone SARS first and report the query then they will give you reference number to work on. Let’s us all be calm”.
It is clear that something has to be done from the database of the SARS in order to be cleared of this irp5 issue.
In case you cannot get in contact with your former employer as may be the case for most people, you can still contact SARS on their toll free number : 0800002777 for guidelines.
But what is even more interesting to note is that, some of the declined applicants claim they have never worked. In such case, where are they going to get their former employer to have this tax certificate issued and prepared accordingly.
But whatever the case, please contact SARS or Labour Department for your records and that will hell ascertain your status as far as this srd R350 Grant is concerned.
